Luke Littler and Luke Humphries into last eight of Players Championship

Luke Littler continued his stunning form as he beat Danny Noppert 10-3 to reach the Players Championship quarter-finals in Minehead, where he was joined by world number one Luke Humphries.

Seventeen-year-old sensation Littler beat Ritchie Edhouse 6-2 in the second round in Saturday’s afternoon session, before returning to comfortably see off Noppert.

Littler, who hit seven 180s, averaged 104.70 and had a highest checkout of 129 against Noppert, will play Mike de Decker in the next round.

“When I go on these little bursts, I feel like nobody can touch me,” said Littler.

Humphries beat Raymond van Barneveld 6-3 in the afternoon session before a 10-6 win against Damon Heta.

The defending champion was not on his best form in beating Heta as he averaged 96.98 and had a highest checkout of 104.

“There were so many visits where I felt I had so much more to give,” said Humphries, who will play Ryan Joyce in the quarter-finals.

“So many 140s and not enough 180s. I’m trying to keep up with Luke and try to put in a good level.

“At the end of the day I’ve won and that’s all that matters. It takes me into Sunday and I can go again.”

Littler and Humphries will meet in the final if they continue to progress.

“Luke is playing some absolutely phenomenal darts right now,” said Humphries.

“He’s probably the best player in the world at the moment, but I know I’ve got a level to match that.”
