Great Britain beaten by Netherlands as 2026 Winter Olympics hopes end

Great Britain’s women let in an overtime goal against the Netherlands as their hopes of reaching the final qualifying stage for the 2026 Winter Olympics were ended.

Both teams met in Sheffield having won their first two group games, knowing the winner would progress to the next stage of qualifying in February 2025.

The match ended goalless in normal time, with British keeper Ella Howard making some vital saves to keep her team in it.

However, Savine Wielenga scored a winner for the Dutch after Howard had initially saved a shot.
