County Antrim Shield: Reds and Glens win shootouts as holders Larne progress
Cliftonville and Glentoran survived penalty shootouts to make the second round of the County Antrim Shield.
The Reds beat Ards 9-8 on penalties after a Solitude stalemate while Glentoran won 5-4 on spot-kicks against H&W Welders following a 2-2 draw.
Larne, who are chasing a fifth straight Shield triumph, eased to 3-0 home victory over Queen’s University while Chris McKee hit a last-gasp winner as Linfield edged Ballyclare Comrades 3-2.
Crusaders thumped Knockbreda 6-2 and Ballymena United enjoyed a 2-1 win over Ballymacash Rangers while Carrick Rangers beat Bangor 4-0.
